The J-1 Exchange Visitor Program, established under the Mutual Educational and Cultural Exchange Act of 1961 (Fulbright–Hays Act) and administered by the U.S. Department of State, promotes mutual understanding through educational and cultural exchange. It allows non-immigrant visitors to engage in academic, research, and cross-cultural activities in the U.S. under a designated Program Sponsor.
TCU serves as a J-1 Program Sponsor, hosting eligible Exchange Visitors for academic and cultural activities across its U.S. campuses. All participants must comply with federal J-1 regulations and TCU-specific program requirements. Eligibility for J-1 sponsorship is based on the visitor’s proposed activities and appointment type. Departments interested in hosting a J-1 visitor should review the relevant information and contact International Services (ISO) at internationalservices@tcu.edu with any questions.
