Immigration Law

F-1 and J-1 students, by virtue of the I-20 or the DS 2019, have a contractual relationship with TCU and the U.S. Government to pursue full-time study, make consistent progress toward their degree, and adhere to U.S. laws and regulations regarding employment, travel, and active participation in American cultural life.

It is imperative that international students and their dependents comply with specific immigration regulations to maintain their legal status. This includes adhering to all visa requirements and the guidelines set forth by the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The regulations governing your status are mandatory and and must be strictly followed.

For both incoming and current international students, the International Services Office (ISO) offers valuable resources and support to ensure you meet these obligations. Throughout the academic year, the ISO will organize a variety of workshops and events designed to support your success. We are committed to providing the same opportunities to international students that are available to U.S. students, within the framework of federal guidelines.

Please refer to the following pages for essential information about obtaining and maintaining F-1 and J-1 student status.

Important note: While the ISO is here to assist you, it is ultimately YOUR responsibility to maintain your F or J immigration status. If you are unclear or have questions regarding an immigration regulation, you should not hesitate to reach out.
